Nuvoco’s Sonadih Cement Plant Organizes Blood Donation Camp

As part of annual Health Safety & Environment (HSE) Month celebrations; Nuvoco’s Sonadih Cement Plant (SCP) organized blood donation camp at SCP in association with the Indian Red Cross Society, Raipur. 356 employees; including contractual workers, truck drivers, colony ladies and people from nearby villages voluntarily participated in the programme and donated ever highest units of blood.

The camp was inaugurated by Mr Janak Ram Verma, MLA, Baloda Bazar; Mr Ramesh Warke, Senior Vice President – SCP in presence of Mr Uma Suryam, Operations Manager; Mr. Kiran Sharma, Cluster Head – P&A; Mr Manak Chand Verma, Union General Secretary; Mr Ashish Pandey, Union Vice President along with other Nuvoco officials.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Warke expressed, “Requirement of safe blood is continually on the rise due to the number of emergencies occurring every day, making regular voluntary blood donations vital for blood transfusion services. Blood donation is definitely a noble act. Many clinics and hospitals constantly require blood for several purposes. This makes the idea of blood donation a noble gesture as it provides life-saving help to people and patients. At Nuvoco, we do our bit by turning our beliefs into action and encouraging others to do the same. We believe that by donating; we have a chance to give another person a chance at a healthy life.”

Addressing the gathering, the chief guest, Mr Verma appreciated Nuvoco for organising the blood donation camp for the society at large. He emphasized the importance of voluntary blood donation; likening it to a noble initiative, and encouraged the Nuvoco staff and workers to actively contribute to creating a bank of safe blood.

At the end Mr Sharma, delivered vote of thanks to all the participants for their active contribution in making the occasion memorable and memento was given to the medical staff of Indian Red Cross Society, Raipur.
