Chief of Legal & Compliance
Mr. Ajai Jain heads the Legal and Secretarial function at Nuvoco; where he is responsible for legal-related issues for all the products lines. He joined the organisation as Senior Vice President – Legal & Secretarial in April 2013.
Mr. Jain has rich experience of over three decades in Corporate law, Competition law, mergers and acquisitions, Industrial and Labour laws, IPR, Documents drafting and Litigation, etc.
Mr. Jain’s former assignments have been with a number of Indian and international business houses; Monsanto and Siemens; notably amongst them. His last role, former to joining Nuvoco, was with Siemens as Vice President Legal & Company Secretary.Mr. Jain is a Commerce and Law graduate from Mumbai University; in addition to being Fellow Member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India since December 1990.
Chief of Ready-Mix Concrete and Aggregates
Mr. Arun Shukla heads the Ready-Mix Concrete (RMX) and Aggregates business of Nuvoco. Prior to taking on this role in July 2017; he headed sales for RMX and Aggregates.
Mr. Shukla, whose professional career spans over twenty four years, started his career with Nuvoco as Design Engineer in November 1993. Following a successful stint in Cement sales for about thirteen years; he made a cross-functional career move as Plant Head of Mejia Cement Plant. There, he played an important role in stabilizing the plant operations and relationships with key stakeholders. Mr. Shukla, later, moved to Jojobera Cement Plant (JCP) as Plant Manager; supporting the plant team during its expansion and working closely with the then parent company’s technical team. During his tenure, JCP was inducted as a proud member of Lafarge SA’s Health & Safety Excellence Club.
In July 2013, Mr. Shukla made another key move as Zonal Head – RMX (Chennai); overseeing the Chennai and Bangalore businesses. A year later, he became Head of Sales (RMX); where he was instrumental in driving sales force effectiveness, bringing in the pricing strategy and also introducing the CRM tool for the first time in an RMX business. Mr. Shukla, then, took on an additional responsibility in business development in the newly-merged Projects and Aggregates businesses in 2016. Under his leadership, the Projects team bagged six prestigious projects, and grew from strength to strength.
Mr. Shukla holds a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering and a diploma in management from IIM Calcutta.
Chief of Special Projects, CSR & Corporate Affairs
Mr. Joydeep Chatterjee heads the Special Projects, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Corporate Affairs functions at Nuvoco.
Mr. Chatterjee joined Nuvoco in 2008 as Senior Vice President of Green-field Projects; where he successfully commissioned the Rajasthan, Bhivani and Sonadih Railway line projects. In 2012, he was made Chief Project Officer; and in September 2016, he was given additional responsibilities of overseeing the organisation’s CSR activities. He has been heading Corporate Affairs for Nuvoco since May 2017.
Mr. Chatterjee started his career with the DCM Group in Shriram Refrigeration in 1983; he covered a gamut of roles ranging from being Executive Assistant to the CEO & MD, to Corporate Planning & Strategy, and heading Projects. He was also part of the Honda Genset and Honda Car projects. Following Tecumseh’s acquisition of Sriram’s compressor business; Mr. Chatterjee headed the organisation’s Hyderabad unit, and later headed operations for Hyderabad and Ballabgarh. He has overseas work experience in the USA, France and Brazil for precision engineering projects. He briefly headed Operational Excellence globally for Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories before joining Nuvoco in 2008.
Mr. Chatterjee has a strong grounding in precision engineering, and over thirty years of experience in Project Management and Operations. He holds a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from Delhi University and an MBA. He is a certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt, Certified Auditor of Environment Systems ISO 14000 by Marsdon United Kingdom, as well as qualified in Total Quality Management.
Chief of Health, Safety & Environment
Dr. Prabal Bandyopadhyay heads Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) for Nuvoco; where he is responsible for spearheading and implementing policies and promotes good practices in Health, Safety and Environment across all business lines; to distinguish Nuvoco as setting benchmarks in HSE for the building materials industry.
Dr. Bandyopadhyay joined Nuvoco in 2005 as Chief – Health and Safety for its Cement business. In 2012, he was entrusted with responsibility for driving HSE in country operations; comprising of the Cement, Ready-mix and Aggregates businesses.
Dr. Bandyopadhyay started his career in HSE with Hoechst India in 1994. He was appointed as Head Environment, Health & Safety (EHS), India in Aventis CropScience Limited in 2002; and continued to lead the EHS function in Bayer CropScience Limited till 2005.
Dr. Bandyopadhyay has published several National and International papers in the field of HSE; besides being a popular speaker at various CII and FICCI fora. He has been visiting faculty in ISTAR, SP University; Vallabh Vidyanagar, Anand, Gujarat; and a core faculty member at Ankleshwar Environment Preservation Society, Ankleshwar, Gujarat.
Dr. Bandyopadhyay graduated with Honours in Physics from Calcutta University in 1988 and has a Masters degree in Environmental Science (1991). He holds a Ph. D in Life Sciences (2001) from Gujarat University, Ahmedabad. He also holds an Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety from Technical Education Board, Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
Chief of Human Resources & Industrial Relations
Mr. Devendra Shangari has been heading Human Resources and Industrial Relations for Nuvoco across all business lines since 2014.
Mr. Shangari joined Nuvoco in 2002 to head Personnel & Administration at Nuvoco’s Arasmeta Cement Plant, and later moved to Kolkata to take up a role as BU Training Head in 2006. After a year, he was heading HR Operations and was responsible for HR and industrial relations for all cement plants and project sites in the East. During this time, Mr. Shangari additionally supported Lafarge Bangladesh as Head of HR for about a year.
Mr. Shangari has varied experience in human resources and industrial relations; spanning more than three decades, and across industries; ranging from tea, engineering, steel and cement; managing HR Operations as well as strategic HR leadership roles. Before joining Nuvoco he worked with Gontermann Piepers India Ltd. and Ispat Industries Ltd.
Mr. Shangari holds a PGDHRM (MBA) from Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management (IISWBM), Kolkata University. He is a PGD in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management from Bhartiya Vidhya Bhawan, Kolkata; and LLB (Legum Baccalaureus) from Allahabad University.
Chief of Manufacturing & Supply Chain Management
Mr. Sunil Mahajan heads the Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management (SCM) for Nuvoco’s Cement product line. In this capacity, he drives strategy and policy initiatives for the manufacturing sites and supply chain for the Cement product line.
Previously, Mr. Mahajan established the Business Excellence & Strategy function for Nuvoco; where he gained deeper insights into industry best practices through benchmarking.
Mr. Mahajan joined Nuvoco in 2007 as Vice President – Jojobera Cement Plant; following which, he moved to Sonadih Cement Plant as Plant Head in 2010. There, he headed a number of challenging projects like stabilization of Sonadih Line2. In 2012, he was appointed as Senior Vice President – Purchase & Logistics; where he helped shape the new Purchasing and Logistics organisation; in addition to driving various cost saving initiatives to reduce the overall supply chain cost, and advance logistics safety initiatives.
Mr. Mahajan started his career in 1991 with Telephone Cables and since then, has worked with leading organisations across industries like Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), Nestlé, Coco-Cola, and SC Johnson Products Pvt. Ltd. He holds a Bachelor degree in Electronics Engineering from Punjab Engineering College, and has also completed an Executive Programme in Business Management from IIM Kolkata.
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Maneesh Agrawal joined Nuvoco as Chief Financial Officer in October 2017. He is responsible for the overall Finance function of Cement and Ready-Mix Concrete (RMX) businesses at Nuvoco; comprising of Corporate Finance, Operational / Business Finance, Banking, Treasury, Funds Management, Working Capital Management, Accounts, Audit, Direct & Indirect Taxation, Shared Serives, Information Technology, Internal Financial Controls, Policies & Processes, and Insurance.
Mr. Agrawal has nearly two decades of vast hands-on experience in partnering with business teams in delivering targeted EBIDTA and value creation. He has wide experience in leading project finance teams across several brown-field and green-field projects; and has also successfully implemented various Finance and IT related projects besides integration (Systems, Processes, Culture) of Finance and Accounts teams of different companies post M&As. Mr. Agrawal has worked extensively in different geographies, with culturally-varied professionals and across various age brackets.
Mr. Agrawal’s last assignment was with Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd. as Deputy Executive Director – Finance & Accounts; where he made significant contributions in Finance, Strategy and Operations. Prior to joining Dalmia Cement Mr. Agrawal worked with Ballarpur Industries Ltd (BILT); where he was responsible for fund raising of both debt and equity. During his stint at BILT, he introduced innovative ways of debt syndication to reduce borrowing cost.
Mr. Agrawal is a Graduate in B. Com (Honours) from Hans Raj College, Delhi University and a qualified Chartered Accountant from The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He is a recipient of National Mathematics Olympiad Award.
Recently Mr. Agrawal has been awarded with the prestigious ‘CFO100 2018’ Roll of Honour award in the category of Collaboration by CFO India.
Chief of Sales, Marketing & Innovation
Ms. Madhumita Basu heads Sales and Marketing for Nuvoco’s cement business. She also heads Innovation for Nuvoco across all its business areas.
Ms. Basu joined Nuvoco in 2010 as Excom Member and Head of Marketing for its cement business; where she shared responsibility for driving key corporate goals in safety, growth, business performance, innovation and people development. In October 2015; she was given the additional mandate of heading sales for the cement business; along with driving innovation processes, new products and services for the Residential Housing segment.
Ms. Basu took charge of heading Innovation for Nuvoco in April 2017; where she drives the organisation’s five-stage innovation process through its world-class Construction Innovation Development Centre. The Centre is a hub for developing new products from point of conception to market introduction; it also nurtures dynamic partnerships to develop intelligent and relevant construction technologies.
Ms. Basu has over three decades of experience in customer-centric processes and cross-functional engagement within strategic planning, sales and marketing (domestic and international), business development and outsourcing; as well as quality management and IT. Prior to joining Nuvoco, she worked with Exide Industries and Eveready Industries India.
Ms. Basu has a Bachelor degree in Commerce and a Masters in Management Studies (Finance Major) from Mumbai University. She has been associated with various fora for Training and Development programmes. She is also a recipient of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Young Manager Award and a Past President of The Calcutta Management Association.
