Across locations, we operate and act as a responsible member of our communities by contributing to the development of people, their health, rights and well being by generating economic growth and supporting social educational and cultural advancement.
Our CSR Programmes
In 2015, our community development programmes brought under their fold more than 1,67,000 people residing in the North and East regions of India; across 98 villages in and around our cement plants and projects.

BCP constructing road for village
As part of Nirman Bharat initiative, Bhiwani Cement Plant (BCP) is constructing a road at Chirya village. The inauguration of the construction was done by Maneesh Agrawal, CFO along with Ravindra Khamparia, AVP – BCP, Yogendra Sharma, AGM – P&A, Village Sarpanch and lots of villagers. They also appreciated the efforts taken by BCP for CSR.
CCP Distributed 1500 Baby Kit
On occasion of Women’s Day; Chittorgarh Cement Plant (CCP) team under its CSR activities donated 1500 baby kit to Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU), Child and women department, Sanwariya Hospital, Chittorgarh. In the unit approximately 1500 girl child gets admitted in a year and to provide them a hygienic support CCP team donated baby kit. Present at the occasion was Raghvendrarao Jahagirdar (VP – CCP) along with members of Sankriti Ladies Mrs Rashmi Jahagirdar, Mrs Manisha Vader, Mrs Swapna Diwekar and Ravi Prakash and Mrs Anamika Kirti, CSR team. Also present were Dr. Madhup Bhakshi, PMO; Dr. Jai Singh Meena (Incharge SNCU) along with fellow doctors and hospital staff.
JCP Celebrated Women’s Day With SHG
Jojobera Cement Plant (JCP) celebrated International Women’s Day at Community Center. The program was inaugurated by Mrs Ranjana Mishra (Director DRDA, National Employment Programme and Magistrate) along with Jeetendra Jain, AVP (JCP) and Mrs Jain. To mark the celebration various activities were organised followed by prize distribution. All the women associated with mushroom cultivation, pond fishing and paddy cultivation were also recognised. Mrs Mishra informed about different government schemes how they can be beneficial to the ladies. She also appreciated the initiate taken by Nuvoco.
MCP Celebrated Women’s Day With Rural Women
Mejia Cement Plant (MCP) celebrated International Women’s Day with women from the community at Shamayita Math, its NGO partner’s premises. More than 200 women from different Self Help Groups of different villages attended the program. On this occasion, various events were organised for the ladies like home, kitchen and electrical training, video show on gender sensitization and leadership, quiz competition. The village women were also felicitated for their good work.
MCP Displayed CSR Initiatives In Grameen Mela
Mejia Cement Plant (MCP) promoted their CSR initiatives through a stall in the week long Durlavpur Holi mela. The mela is held annually and is very popular in the area. In the stall all the community development activities, beneficiary projects in areas such as women empowerment were showcased. The Self Help Group women also displayed and sold their product from this stall.
Health And Sanitation Program at ACP
As part of Swasth Bharat initiative Arasmeta Cement Plant (ACP) CSR team organized awareness session on safe drinking water, health and hygiene and safe Holi celebration for school students. Dr. Anshu Priya Lakra (Medical Officer) facilitated and created awareness for primary school students at Parsada village. She discussed on various health and hygiene related issues and its preventive and curative measures. 85 students from Parsada Primary School attended the session.
Aakriti products displayed at Gramin Haat mela
To promote rural artisans a Gramin Haat mela is organised by District Industry Center every year at Keer Khera, Chittorgarh. This year too Chittorgarh Cement Plant (CCP) had put up two stalls – one to display their CSR initiative and another to showcase the work created by Aakriti. The mela as well as the stall was inaugurated by Indarjeet Singh, District Collector, Chittorgarh. He interacted with Aakriti members and CCP officials in detail about the various CSR initiatives that is being carried out in the region and appreciated the effort put towards the development of these people.
SCP organised gender sensitization workshop
Sonadih Cement Plant organised a gender sensitization workshop for 250 girls from 12 villages who were also part of Adolescent Girls Health Group program. On the occasion expert counselors and officers from police department shared their views and updated girls on various laws and rights related to them. Various models of our CSR activities were also displayed on the occasion.
CCP Signs MoU adopt and support 162 Anganwadi centres
In line with ‘Sakshar Bharat’ initiative; Chittorgarh Cement Plant (CCP) signed a MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with the Government of Rajasthan, to adopt and support 162 Anganwadi centres being run under the Government-sponsored ICDS (Integrated Child Development Service) programme. According to the MoU, Nuvoco will help the administration to fill the identified gaps between needs and resources in service components of ICDS; such as nutrition, pre-schooling, capacity building of workers and empowerment of community. This initiative is part of ‘DAMRU’ (Developing Anganwadi as Model Re-creation Unit) programme designed by Nuvoco’s CSR team with the intent to transform Anganwadis into modern play schools. Through ‘DAMRU’, Nuvoco will be touching lives of around 9500 children and 3500 adolescent girls and mothers in rural Rajasthan on a sustained basis.
Inauguration of sanitary pad dispenser and incinerator
Under Swachh Bharat mission, Chitttorgarh Cement Plant (CCP) has installed sanitary pad dispenser and fully automatic electric incinerator with a corpus 500 sanitary pads to Senior Secondary School, Bhawaliya. The machine was inaugurated by Vaijayanti Karande, VP – Communications, Raghvendrarao Jahagirdar, VP – CCP and Krishna Mehta (Sarpanch – Bhawaliya) in the presence of all school staffs and Nuvoco officials.
MCP organised ‘Harvest Hungama’
Mejia Cement Plant (MCP) as part of its CSR program, organised “Harvest Hungama” initiative on Kharif crop improved cultivation practices at Barabaid village. More than 100 farmers from different villages attended the program. Modern and improved techniques were demonstrated which led to improvement in yield and reduction in inputs per acre. The program also demonstrated and shared the benefits of drip irrigation practice and vermin compost producing unit at residences among the farmers.
BCP conducted leprosy and AIDS awareness program
As part of Swasth Bharat initiative Bhiwani Cement Plant (BCP) conducted leprosy and AIDS awareness program for truck and bulker drivers and other stakeholders. Around 50 truck and bulker drivers and stakeholders attended the program. The program was facilitated by Mrs Sangwan and team from Government hospital.
MCP conducted animal health camps
Mejia Cement Plant (MCP) conducted two animal health camps to understand the livestock health related issues in the project villages of Bhadadihi and Kenthulia. The basic objective of conducting the camps was to gain an understanding on general livestock health status, good management practices and prevalent disease in villages, so that livestock related intervention could be taken up in a manner that it sustainable. Over 400 cattle and 160 birds were treated for different disease/problem. Dr. Ashok Singha, Veterinary Officer and Manoranja Bhatbhel, Assistant Veterinary Officer, Gangajalghati Block conducted the camp.
PCC Road Construction at Chilhati Mines
Under Nuvoco’s Nirmaan Bharat initiative, Arasmeta Cement Plant (ACP) have constructed 309 meters of PCC road at Paitedih village (Chilhati Mines) connecting all households’ in the village. With this road 58 households have benefited. Earlier uneven road was having lot of potholes but now people were very happy with this road.
Awareness Program on Health and Sanitation
Under Nuvoco’s ‘Swasth Bharat’ initiative, Arasmeta Cement Plant (ACP) organised safe drinking water and sanitation awareness program for girls through in Dr. Anshu Priya Lakra (ACP Medical Doctor) in middle school at Arasmeta village to increase the idea of general health care amongst girls. Various issues related to health and hygiene and its preventive and curative measures were discussed. Total 105 students from Arasmeta Middle School were present for the session.
MCP Facilitate Low-Cost Drip Irrigation Practices
Under Nuvoco’s Saksham Bharat initiative, Mejia Cement Plant (MCP) has undertaken to demonstrate low cost drip irrigation agricultural practices (local model) for Kharif crop in different villages. It will be very beneficial for the small and marginal farmers because it is a cost efficient model and would greatly help the poor and marginal farmers with fragmented land holdings especially during the dry and arid weather conditions. This practice will help the farmers to grow vegetables in the dry season and irrigate more land with less water consumption. The intervention also results in minimal evaporation and overspray as well as optimum water use leading to less cost and efficient water conservation.
Chilhati Limestone Mines ACP bags First prize in Swachhata Pakhwada
Nuvoco’s Chilhati Limestone Mines bagged the First Prize in Khadan Swachhata
Pakhwada, which was organised in Bilaspur region of Chhattisgarh for the first time under
the initiative of Director Mining Geology a flagship initiative of Government of India. Mr.
Sanjay Tyagi, Vice President – ACP (VP-ACP) received the prize on behalf of the team
from Mr. P. Dayanand, District Collector, Bilaspur.
Duraguard Microfiber promotes Rich History of Ranigunj
As an organisation rooted in values, Nuvoco has always endeavoured to promote local
history and heritage. At the behest of the DRM of Eastern Railway, Asansol, the Cement
Marketing and Mejia Plant Operations teams collaborated to beautify the Ranigunj railway
station. The purpose was to promote the rich history and values of Ranigunj; one of the
oldest industrial regions of West Bengal located in the South-Eastern neighbourhood in
Asansol, Bardhaman district. This was achieved through the artistic rendition of historical
personalities; who have contributed to the development of the region. The exercise also
offered Duraguard Microfiber with an ideal platform for tastefully promoting the brand.
Drawing and essay competition
As part of CSR initiative Arasmeta Cement Plant (ACP) organized a drawing and essay competition at Paitedih village (Chilhati Mines). Approximately 85 school students participated from school in the program. Also an awareness rally on safety and cleanness was organised by school children.
Awareness program on health and sanitation
Under Nuvoco’s Swasth Bharat initiative, Arasmeta Cement Plant (ACP) organised safe drinking water and sanitation awareness program especially for girls through Dr. Anshu Priya Lakra (ACP Medical Doctor) in Primary school at Arasmeta village. The objective of the initiative was to increase the awareness of general health care in girls. Various health and hygiene related issues were discussed and their preventive and curative measures were explained. Altogether 95 students from Arasmeta Primary School attended the program.
Nukkad Natak on road safety
Under Nuvoco’s “Surakshit Bharat” initiative Arasmeta Cement Plant (ACP) organised a Nukad Natak program on road safety awareness for the community at Amora and Arasmeta village. The program was organised for two and four wheeler users and general public. The Nukkad Natak was delivered by Lokmaya Group from Raipur. This initiative has helped in increasing awareness on road and home safety of the rural population.
Aakriti appreciated for their design and finishing
Aakriti the Self Help Group (SHG) supported by Chittorgarh Cement Plant (CCP) as part of Saksham Bharat initiative has grown many folds since its inception. In his recent visit to Aakriti, Devendra Shangari, Chief HR & IR appreciated the work done by Aakriti group under the guidance of Mrs Anamika Kirti. He was impressed with the finishing and design stitched by the members of Aakriti. To take this centre to the next level he suggested a website of Aakriti which will give them greater visibility.
MCP wins Non-Governmental display and stall prize
Mejia Cement Plant (MCP) for the second consecutive year won the prestigious “Non-Governmental display and stall prize” at the District Agricultural Mela. The stall put up by MCP CSR department was judged as the best among the Non-Governmental displays. The stall highlighted initiatives like mushroom cultivation, vermin compost, paddy rice cultivation and model kitchen garden. The jury and the judges, comprising of senior community leaders and officers from the district administration appreciated the good work being done by MCP in the surrounding community.
World AIDS Day observed at MCP and SCP
Under Nuvoco’s “Swastha Bharat” program and to commemorate World AIDS Day, Mejia (MCP) and Sonadih Cement Plant (SCP) organised an awareness program on AIDS for the transport drivers and cleaners. The program was held at material gate and truck parking area. Awareness and sensitisation of the vulnerable group on “Do’s and Don’ts” about the dreaded disease was done through street play and Nukkad Natak in front of the target audience. More than 100 drivers attended the program at MCP.
Smart class demo conducted by ACP
Arasmeta Cement Plant (ACP) organised a demo of smart class at a high school in Parsada village in collaboration with Next Education which is working to bring about a systemic change to Indian education by marring education with technology. Initially Next Education carried out a trail of the new system with the students of Class I to X for ten days and monitored their response. Students including teachers appreciated the new model.
‘NO’ plastic campaign by ACP
‘NO’ plastic campaign was carried out at Amora village school by Arasmeta Cement Plant (ACP). The students of middle and higher secondary were given awareness through Nukkad Natak played by KPS School students. Government school students also committed to discard the use of plastics in their daily life and will also create awareness in the surroundings.
Creating collaboration with Aakriti
With the objective of creating collaboration, Madhumita Basu, Chief of Sales, Marketing and Innovation visited Aakriti Centre in Mangrol village. First she enquired about the products that they are stitching and developing. She also discussed in detail with the coordinator and the members of Aakriti group about the various options on how to build an association with them. Aakriti members were very happy with the visit and the initiative taken by Nuvoco in exploring opportunities with them.
Dengue awareness drive in rural areas of MCP
A week long Dengue awareness initiative was held at all villages of three Gram Panchayat’s of Gangajal Ghati block by Mejia Cement Plant (MCP). Under this program, initiatives have been taken to familiarise the community about the need and importance of certain “Do’s and Don’ts of Dengue. Leaflets in vernacular language have been designed and distributed among the people. Mass communication was also done among the community using loudspeakers to create awareness and preventive measures about the disease. This initiative was applauded by the local stakeholders and the rural community.
Adolescent education program at ACP
Session on adolescent education was organised at KPS School Gopalnagar for VI to VIII STD girl’s students by Arasmeta Cement Plant (ACP). Dr. Anshu Priya Lakra (Medical Officer) conducted the session. They were given awareness on personal hygiene, sanitization and adolescent health related awareness. Approximately 190 girls attended the training.
CCP renovated, refurbished and distributed learning materials to 11 Anganwadi’s
Chittorgarh Cement Plant (CCP) renovated, refurbished and distributed learning materials to 11 Anganwadi’s. These 11 Anganwadi’s has been adopted by CCP with the objective of transforming them into model Anganwadi in the form of modern play schools. The materials that were distributed by CCP included play items like sliders, rockers, basketballs, cradles, study tops, solar fans, water purifiers, first aid boxes, self and utensils to each of the 11 Anganwadi’s; and is part of district’s flagship program UDDAN driven by District Collector. Another important step taken under this programme is to ensure a child friendly toilet in each of these Anganwadi’s which was otherwise not present.
CCP organised malaria and dengue prevention camp
With the rising cases of dengue and malaria in Chittorgarh and primarily around Chittorgarh Cement Plant (CCP), CSR and HR team came together and organised a dengue and malaria prevention camp. In the camp homeopathic doses of dengue and malaria was given to approximately 1100 beneficiaries from 14 schools and 10 Anganwadi’s. The initiative was well appreciated by all local stakeholders like Sarpanch, headmasters etc and thanked the company for this efforts.
JCP organised fishery training
Jojobera Cement Plant (JCP) organised training program on fishery in Chota Gadra which was attended by around 22 people. Training was given on feed preparation, how to maintain hygiene in ponds, timing of food etc. After the program fishes were released in eight ponds of Chota Gadra. Beneficiaries were given fishes according to the size of the ponds. Beside this fish feeds were also given to 10 beneficiaries. Beneficiaries will keep the fishes in ponds till January 2018 and after that they will start selling them.
Training of women SHG at SCP
Sonadih Cement Plant (SCP) organised a one day awareness training for 163 members of 21 Self Help Groups (SHG) from five villages. Topics like – mutual help among members, leadership qualities, setting group norms, objectives and goals were covered during the training program. These types of programs are necessary for motivating and capacity building of SHG’s to ensure their sustainability
JCP carried out ghat cleaning
To ensure a smooth and pious celebration of Chhat puja, Jojobera Cement Plant (JCP) along with the local administration cleaned four ghats and did other arrangements namely lighting, bracketing etc. Every year these activities are carried out by local companies, social organizations etc.
JCP lend a helping hand
Jojobera Cement Plant (JCP) supported Patel School to organise Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Jayanti, Govindpur. During the event prizes were given to meritorious students which were sponsored by JCP. Addressing the gathering Manoj Agrawal, SVP JCP congratulated the students on their hard work and promised to extend support to the school in future as well so that more children get a chance to basic education which is a right of each child.
